The Badlands of North Dakota

Lots of these fields in North Dakota.  That is a field of Sunflowers.  Sunflowers as far as the eye can see.  If it wasn't Sunflowers it was corn.

Tower City North Dakota.  This was one of the cleanest towns I've every seen.  Just a quite little place.

These cool things are scooters they were a lot of fun.  Don and I went scootering to Telegraph Harbour on Thetis Island where we were staying at brother Tom's preparing for the Lee Family Reunion.

 Whose that guy?!!  Look at those flowers, saw so many and in so many different colours.  Just beautiful.

After the reunion it was time to get Kelsey to Victoria.

Here's the Empress Hotel in all it's glory.

One funky looking flower and it was huge.

I got swindled into helping a street performer.  Can you spell "not impressed"!  He was a juggler and had a pretty good act.

Washington

Merritt Washington is actually due south of Merritt BC  we stayed at this rest area our first night of our official drive south.

On the right, we stumbled across this town called Leavenworth Washington, it is completely German themed and is a true wonder.  We really enjoyed it.

Above, I just had to take a picture of these unique bottle holders.  There were others, like horses and cows etc.

On the right is the main street of Leavenworth.

All the buildings have flowery painted signs and hanging baskets everywhere.

Lennep is almost a ghost town, but not quite.  There are 10 mailboxes so I guess 10 families but less than 50 people.

There is an outhouse out back of the church, when we were looking at the church Don was heading that way and came close to a skunk fortunately he saw the skunk before it saw him!  We saw jack rabbits bigger than a small dog, mule dear and one little snake (not a rattler, well it could have been a baby one)
